Mark with Experian Reports & Reviews (1)

- Russiaville, IN, USA

Received a phone call from a foreign speaking gentleman named Mark. He stated he was with Experian Credit report agency and was calling to lower the interest rates on my credit cards. I told him I was not interested, he said wait, wait and started giving me information about my credit cards. He gave all my credit card balances, the specific amount of my last payment, and the amount that was due on the next payment. He had my card numbers and he assured me he only wanted to lower my rates by 1/2 or 1/3 percent. He said that Experian had been following my accounts for a few years, and since I was good at paying on time and paying extra, they felt like I should have a lower interest rate. (I agreed with that and was curious). He was very convincing since he already knew so much about me. He would put me on hold so he could supposedly check out the interest rate on each specific card. When he returned back on the phone, he stated exactly what the rate was. He told me by reducing the interest rate, it would save approximately $4000.00 every 12 months which would allow the cards to be paid back much sooner. He said that the future payments would go directly toward the principle. He said there were 3 guarantees: 1.) I would save $4000.00 every 12 months, 2.) I would get out of debt 3-5 times faster, 3.) Interest rate would be from 0-8%. I thought it was too good to be true, but since he knew so much about my accounts already, I began to think it was legit. He told me his boss would be calling me in about 5 minutes to confirm everything. Stated that the way they (Experian) got paid, was to collect from the interest $995.00. He said $400.00 would be added to Discover and $595.00 would be added to Citi card. He confirmed my e-mail address, my mothers maiden name, and the last 4 digits of my social security number. He said I would be getting an e-mail and they would mail the paperwork to me. I did NOT receive a follow-up call and when I tried calling the number back it went to voicemail. I ask him to call me back, but he did not. It was a local number. I began to realize that my suspicion was true that this was a scam. I looked at the scam report from the ScamPulse.com and the reports listed were about identical to mine. I contacted my credit card companies and warned them of the call. I did not give any bank information, however, they probably already know it, they had everything else.
