Just got hit with this employment scam from Mark Anderson [email protected].

The same scam as listed by other people here. Exact same scenario, different company. Nothing worse than lazy stupid scammers, beware of them!

The post on Indeed.com, they send a fake questionnaire, and the next day give you a remote job for an "unbelievable" salary. I knew it was to good to be true, they never called to interview me, not even a call to see if I was a real person.

They say the will send a check for office equipment, and it sounds legit but its not. I sent them a link to this post and never heard back from them, imagine that.

Here is the scam:

1.) They "hire" you then immediately want to transfer money to your account, to purchase computer equipment for your remote job.

2.) They send you a link to their "vendor", where you purchase equipment from a list they send you.

3.) Your bank discovers the transfer is fraudulent, and remove the money from your account.

4.) You're now on the hook for a purchase you will never receive.

Similar to other reports here, (845) 953-0896 was used to contact me as a “hiring manager” following attempts by “Mark Andersen” at the above email address to recruit me for a company they are spoofing, using the titles Kemper Corp and Kemper Cabinets (two separate, real companies). There goal was to get personal info, drivers license, etc, and to send fraudulent checks to applicants to buy certain equipment, asking for bank name and account name, to then send the false check to.

I received an unusual email from [email protected], referencing an application I had supposedly submitted. However, I had no record or recollection of applying to Frontgrade. Shortly after, I was sent a document with seemingly standard interview questions to complete and email back. Then came an email congratulating me on being hired, with the promise that an offer would follow. The offer came in at the high end of the salary range, which initially had me excited. However, they soon requested my banking information and began applying pressure, which raised significant red flags. Thanks to a post I found on this site, I was able to confirm it was a scam.

The scammer reached out to me initially (via email [email protected]) about a work-from-home job application I had filled out on a legitimate job board, they required me to fill out a screening interview questionnaire and then replied to me the next afternoon saying that I had gotten the job. They then sent a list of required hardware and eventually, a digital fraudulent check (via email [email protected]). This check's routing numbers matched the given bank, First Security Bank. The check used the company's name and address. The amount was $8950.00. I then called First Security Bank and verified that the check was indeed fraudulent.

I just (125/2024) got hit by the same phone number and method. But the email address was slightly different. It was [email protected]. When I got the text from this number asking for my bank's name and my name on my account, I started the question the whole thing. It was this above post that confirmed it for me. Thank you N Larson for sharing. - CR from Pittsburgh.
