Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
She asked me for my PayPal account name. So I took a screenshot and sent it to her. Then she said she needed the email address associated with my account. Second red flag. (Let’s be honest, the first red flag was her offering $50 extra for shipping costs!)
I then received a completely fake email in my junk folder (another red flag) that said something along the lines of “payment confirmed” with instructions for how to send the item to her. It provided the address to the Shop to Ship store in Miami, FL.
Thankfully I figured this out before following though and sending the item to her. Word of advice, trust your gut. When there are red flags, don’t ignore them. Trust your apps (venmo, PayPal, etc) and if notifications aren’t coming through on that, then it’s probably fake. Lastly, it’s always good to use Google maps for an address just to be sure it’s a legit person and not a scamming business.
