THIS BUSINESS IS UNSCRUPULOUS
On 02/06/2021 I needed a new bed and went into The Mattress Warehouse just to see what they had. I was going to buy a base and shop later for the mattress. I spoke with the salesman named Darius, about their bases.
During that conversation, he gave the price on the two motorized types.
Then asked the manager Ely or Ellon, or named something with an "E" to confirm the mattress base prices.
In her reply, she also mentioned they did not return their bases.
This should have been a red flag, but I did not catch it!
I said it shouldn't be a problem, reiterating to Darius to make sure to send the double folding higher price base. He insisted he would.
He showed me some mattresses one with the single lifting base, sliding to the foot of the bed I explained I hated it.
He then took me to a double lifting base that bent up at the knee as well as razing the sleeper's head.
This is it I said and decided to get the mattress with it.
I repeated my request please make sure you send the double lift bed, he insisted he would, allowing me to pay $1765.47 for the bed.
Once the base was delivered I asked the delivery guys if it was double, they called Darius to confirm it, who said it was the right one.
In retrospect, I should have caught that, because he didn't say it was the double lift.
Because my house was under construction for floor replacement I would set it up later so as not to get in the worker's way. The delivery drivers said there was no problem with that, and if there was any problem just call them back.
On setting up the bed, I noticed the base was not the right one.
I called Darius, who first tried to convince me that I had requested the cheaper base.
This was not the case guy I said, I explained during our conversation more than once in multiple locations throughout your store that I hated the single lift base.
He said he would fix it and that he would get back with me.
After two weeks, I was questioning his resolve.
I called him back and he did not answer, so I called the store number.
Upon reaching the store I spoke with the manager Ely or whatever, who for no reason hangup on me midstream our conversation.
I called her back and asked her if she had hung up on me. She said yes because she was not going to be yelled at.
To be clear, I did not yell at her, I just could not get a word in edge-wise, and only raised my voice to be clear saying "Ma'am please do not talk over me, I am not talking over you, please do not do it to me"
We hang up, and 10 seconds later Darius calls, yelling at the top of his lungs saying that I used profanity on his manager and that I was going to let him talk. So I let him talk.
After voicing his discontent he threatened me never to call him again, and hang up on me.
In short, they tried to egg me into a conflict or an argument.
I called their head office who seems to be using COVID-19 to not answer customer complaints.
I conclude this because they simply refer you back to the store you had the complaint with, and recently I left a message in my discontent at the prospect they were trying to cheat me.
I got in contact with the receptionist who seemed to be an upright person, she said she would leave a message.
Calling back saying the main office would contact me in about four days.
Instead of the head office, I received a call from the store.
Someone claiming to be the manager name Addrela.
I spoke with her on the swap.
Saying she would contact her headquarters to have the problem fixed.
She called me around 8 March and said " The base we sold you was below base price, but if I pay an additional $300.00 I could get what I wanted.
By that time I was fed up and said, "No thanks this is too much of a hassle, please come and get it.
Then she explained that they would not come and pick it up and I would have to bring it back myself.
I knew this was going to be a problem because her coworkers were uber aggressive and likely would not let me do so.
Just as I thought they stopped me at the door and called the police.
They said they would not receive the bed.
This could not be due to COVID because I don't recall them wearing mask.
This is the old BAIT AND SWITCH"
