McAfee Imposter Fake Invoice - Overpayment Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Columbus, OH, USA

As I was attempting to cancel my yearly subscription to the McAfee Security Company and get my $399.99 subscription fee returned to me, this man, with a heavy Indian accent, saying his name is Michael and a representative of McAfee, said they mistakenly deposited an extra $10,000 into my account and needed me to go to the bank, withdraw $10k in cash, as they could not accept cashier's check, due to business restrictions. He guided in what to say to the bank, as to why I am withdrawing that much cash (tell them I was purchasing a car), then guided me to purchase a pair of shoes, with a box, take a picture of the cash, then wrap it in aluminum foil and scotch tape, go to the nearest UPS Store and send it overnight and require a signature upon receipt. It was to be addressed to Charles Bronson and provide them with a picture of the receipt, so that he could then return me the $1-k to my account. Upon asking him for some basic assurances, he became increasingly upset and after several threats and sending me a picture of "his" driver's license, to

give me some assurance that he was, indeed legit, which was a picture of Michael J. Fox, as Marty McFly, in Back To The Future, he finally realized that I was aware of the scam and gave up.
