I was also scammed by someone who used the company name McCann Worldgroup and they also used the name Scott Thompson in the email stating that they will wrap my car to advertise Rugby This happened Feb. 2021 in NY. Here is the description: My mother works at a college and received this email: [email protected] from a Co-Worker who was also a professor. He said that it was for advertisement opportunity by having the company place a decal on the car. The person who I contacted through the email went by the name Scott Thompson and used the name of a real company called McCann Worldgroup. He said he will mail me the check to pay the professional to wrap my car. He contacted me through text using the number 451-349-7081 when the check was mailed to me. He told me to put the check in my account and pay @Emily-Hobday in Venmo once the check cleared. When the check cleared I sent her 3500. I waited 2 days for someone to come and wrap my car but no one came. When I contacted them, they kept making excuses. I directly called McCann company and they told me I was scammed and that someone was using their name to scam people. By the time I checked my checking account, the check bounced and the scammer took my money instead.
