The scammer posted a job opening on LinkedIn and Glassdoor and used the name of a legitimate business (Medallion Landscaping Management, the legitimate website, and name and contact number and email of the actual business contacts. When I received the check, I went back to Linkedin and Glassdoor and the job postings had disappeared. They also sent me multiple scenarios to respond to in order to determine if I was a good candidate. They said that the posted position had been filled, but that a new position had opened up and I looked like a great candidate. They sent me a check to purchase business materials and then texted me from 408-337-2385 to confirm I had received the check. I called the actual company and they said that several people have notified them of this same situation. Apparently, their emails were hacked. I am sending photos of the FedEx envelope and the sent check to the company so they can investigate further as the address is incorrect and they want to make sure that their banking information has also not been compromised. I am happy to send a pdf of all of the communications that I received. The only personal information I sent was the name of my bank, but no account numbers and not my Social Security number.
