I got a call today from Medic Alert, Nelson Martin, 760-436-8791. I agreed and gave them my debit card number. I called Life Alert, and they told me I couldn't cancel their service. So I called Medic Alert back, and couldn't reach them. So I called the bank and canceled my debit card.

A couple of days ago, I received a phone call from a woman, she was offering me "medic alert". She did not have an accent. I think she used a spoofed phone number. I asked how she got the number that appeared in my caller ID, and she hung up.

The call just said "Can you hear me now" and my Dad answered yes, and they hung up.

A woman called and said she was from Medic Alert. She then "asked if I could hear her". I said yes I can hear you and don't call me again but she had hung up.

I heard on the news that this was a scam. What do I do? I answered yes. How do I prevent anything negative from happening.

People are calling claiming Medic Alert . Its a recorded message that says " You have been referred by a family member or a friend . " Then the only option they give you is to press 1 to order your medic alert . I pressed 1 to challenge the call . A woman with a southern answered and then answered like it was Medic Alert , can I help you , can I take your order . Then when I told her what I was calling about , she very soon realized this would not be a sale and then she hung up on me .
