When I answered phone scammer gave my name and asked if it was me. I affirmed my name since I had another personal business call outstanding from which I was expecting a call back. He then proceeded ( with what I think a British? Accent) to say he was from the U.S. Medicare office and was wondering if I had received my new Medicare card yet or if I was still waiting for it. I’m sure the next question if I answered “still waiting “ would have been to provide him the number on my old card ( to confirm it ) so he could mail the “new”. Then he has my Medicare number and tells me he’ll mail the new one. Probably he then would’ve tried to get some more personal info as well. Address, age, birthday etc who knows?

Anyway I smelled scam and cut him off “ saying he should be ashamed of himself for trying to scam people and that I would report this . He tried to ask something else but I hung up. Rt now I know he has my name and fone number for sure and that’s bad enuf for evil people to have in hands. Don’t know what if anything else he has.

Ps I based scammers country and state solely off the area code of fone number that call came from

- Carrollton, VA, USA

Offered the free back brace and said they would let me know when it will be shipped. Knew some info about my doctor. Transferred me 3 times "to verify information"

- Collinsville, VA, USA

Received a text message to call about my Medicaid.  Called and said had to pay for medical underwriting.

- Mc Kees Rocks, PA, USA

Caller identified self as from Medicare. Wanted to send a free brace. Already had my name, address, etc... Caller then said call transferred to medical facility. Answered several questions about pain level, height and weight. Week later, two wrist brace arrived in mail. Along w/ paper work requesting information to bill my primary and secondary health insurance provider.

Personal call: He knew my name. Had foreign accent maybe middle eastern. He said I would be receiving a blue package in the mail that was a Medicare study about the immune system. It was a swab.. After swabbing return with enclosed mailer. Then gave me a Medicare # and asked to check if it was mine. I did and it wasn’t. I told him I was checking with my doctor before giving him any information. He hung on me.

I booked my appointment on 11/18 and payment in advance was required so I did so. On the day of appointment, 11/26, no one showed up. I called the numbers on file. No answer. I even went to the site and was told that I won’t be able to get in the building due to the building being an apartment complex. I was scammed and was unable to get my money back from Chime due to the way the transaction processed. (Final sale with Square payments). I was highly upset due to me needing to send bloodwork as soon as possible. They website looked legit, the appointment scheduling looked legit. I hate that this happened to me. I left a review on google & did not see that another person left a review and was highly upset as well.

This is one of several calls I get saying "hello do not hang up. If you have chronic knee and back pain...." And then I hang up.
