Confirmed my name and address and wanted my Medicare number to send me a new plastic Medicare card

- Chelan, WA, USA

Friendly lady was asking whether or not I had received my Medicare card and booklet. Said she was verifying that I would receive the correct benefits for 2024. Also asked questions about allergies, OTC meds, and whether or not I had joint pain. I hesitated giving her my Medicare number, but she was very persuasive. She then transferred me to a supervisor who asked what kind of knee/back brace I would like to have, paid for by Medicare. I told him I didn't need any braces and repeated that when he asked me again. I have reported this to Medicare.

I get 4 to 10 phone calls every day calling from Medicare wanting to sell me a better insurance plan offering me false hope of money back or other benefits they know my name they know my phone number they know my Social Security number they know my age but they call every single day and I am sick of it

60 to 100 calls every single day non stop harassing my 92yr old grandfather

The caller calls repeatedly until you answer. Once you answer the call the caller announces themself as so-and-so from Medicare and ask if you can hear them. At that point i hung up so i don't know what their angle was.

On April 23, 2019 I received a call from someone saying he was representing Medicare. He asked if my Medicare card was paper or plastic. Knowing that I had recently received my new Medicare card, I checked to see that it was paper. He then replied that the card was temporary and that new plastic cards were being issued. He proceeded to ask for the number and my name, address & birthdate. This information I gave to him. Not until he asked me to hold the line for 30 seconds, did it dawn on me that this was a scam. I immediately hung up and called the correct number for Medicare and spoke with a true representative who advised me to watch for my Medicare summary to make sure there were no false charges in the future.

A person named Jane Adams called and left my parents a vmm with a reference number to call them back (at the number 830-468-7901) about a genetic screening needing to be performed for Medicare. Because my father was waiting on a call from the doctor regarding an upcoming imaging (he was recently diagnosed with cancer), my mom assumed this was a valid call. The people proceeded to come to my parents' house and take a swab from my father's cheek ("to check how he would react to certain medicine". Unfortunately, they also asked to see my father's social security card, which my mother provided. I've just called Medicare, and they confirmed they had nothing to do with this phone call.

Said my social security number had been compromised
