Mega Fox Construction Reports & Reviews (2)

- Atlanta, GA, USA

I was contacted via email by someone claiming to represent a firm called Mega Fox Construction, in response to a job application I had supposedly sent them in response to an online job listing. I have no record nor recollection of ever doing so.

In the email, I was instructed to sign on to Google Hangouts for an interview in the form of a text only chat this morning. I was asked to provide personal information including my name, postal address, phone number and the name of my bank. I was offered a "work from home" job in which I was allegedly to be sent a check for money to buy equipment and supplies for the job, and that I would be sent another email with a job offer today. As of 3:55 PM EST today no such email has arrived, and I have since found online reports by other graphic designers of having been scammed by this same named company.

Since I did not give the interviewer any routing or account numbers, nor any other information that would have enabled access to my account, I have been assured by my credit union that it is safe. It may well be that Mega Fox Construction is in fact a legitimate business whose personnel are being impersonated by a third party. In any case, I felt it prudent to report this to your organization, as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Trade Commission, in hopes of finding and apprehending this person or persons before they can victimize anyone else.

I can be reached at ***@earthlink.net or by phone at (770) *** *** any time. I have logged the chat and can provide a copy

upon request. Thank you very much for your help in this matter.

Mega Fox Construction reached out to me under the email of [email protected] with the label "Graphics Candidates Mega Fox Construction [email protected]", claiming they had received my resume from Indeed and that I was on the shortlist of candidates for an interview. The interview time was the next day at 9am, via Google Hangouts, and I was to reach out to the senior recruiter at [email protected] to do the interview. I reached out to that email to let them know I couldn't do that time, and I received the exact same email from the sensenichtaylor920 address as before, copy and pasted with the only changes being their signature. I then did research on the company, and double checked my records. I never applied to a job with a Mega Fox Construction company, and the only website I found for them said they were located and operated out of Columbus, Ohio (nowhere near my location). There were no records on glassdoor or indeed about the company "Mega Fox Construction", just various versions of "Fox Construction" or "Mega Construction". I kept finding stories where companies using Google Hangouts for interviews are most likely a scam, and since the emails I received were very strangely worded, I wrote it off as a scam. I finally received an email from the baileypatricia one the next morning at 8:45am, also oddly worded, wanting me to reach out for the interview when I had time. I then googled the company name, sorted by news stories, and found where another graphic designer received a job offer from the exact same company name and realized after she got the check that it was a scam. I just don't want other people to fall for this and potentially lose money or waste their time.
