I was searching online to buy a Basenji puppy for my kids for Christmas and came upon this site https://www.darlingbasenjipuppiess.com/. I proceeded to purchase the puppy Mischka for $850 total and paid for it by Zelle which is hooked up to my Wescom checking account on 12/4/2021. I was asked to sent a picture of Zelle confirmation as requested by the breeder. Breeder confirmed they received my payment and they'd ship the puppy the following day from Oklahoma since it's already late. I got confirmation by email and text from this number 405- 267-3898 the following day that the puppy was dropped off to the pet shipping agency but I was warned that the shipping agency didn't take their old crate and need to use a different crate for traveling. I then got an email from the shipping agency http://megapetshippers.com/ confirming the shipment of the puppy. I got a call from the shipping agency from this number 310-906-0238 that I need to pay for a thermal crate or the puppy won't be able to travel, the fee is $1700 and I'd get 95% refund back to my Zelle account when the puppy arrives at my address. They advised me to break up the payment if I hit a limit with Zelle. I was only able to send $1000 then $500 via Zelle and they asked me to get a AMEX card for the remaining balance and send them a picture of the receipt and front and back of AMEX card. I did that and emailed them the photos and they confirmed receipt. The gave me a tracking number for this shipment. I received a call from the pet shipper again now asking for $1990 for pet insurance needed to ship the puppy, that the puppy is stuck in Colorado and that if I don't pay then the puppy will be abandoned. I said I'd pay by credit card but not Zelle or AMEX which they were asking me to. I then told the pet shipper on the phone that I will cancel the shipping, that this is a scam. The pet shipper said they'd send me a refund in 72 days and sent an email stating so. I told the pet shipper on the phone I need the refund back to my Zelle account now. I also called the breeder who told me to pay the pet shipper, that he had been using them for 5 years and that I will receive the dog. He said he can't really talk cause his daughter is at the hospital ill. I called the breeder again and the number 405-267-3898 disconnected. I sent the breeder an email saying I need a refund of the $850. No response from both.
