I was contacted via email regarding a job opportunity. Everything about it seemed legit. I did a lot of research to determine if it was ok or not and couldn't find anything wrong. Nothing stood out. The position was that of Billing Coordinator for a company called Meiji Techno Co Ltd. They are based out of Japan and are the makers of microscopes. All this checked out. The position required you to receive checks as payment for the equipment that had been shipped to clients, deposit them, put the money on ReLoad It cards and send a report to the manager. They gave an example of what the report was to look like, how to process the payments, what to do if you ran into any issues at the bank, etc., etc. Again, nothing seemed out of place. The salary was very promising and I would give me opportunity to work from home and attempt to work on my debt. I had several conversations with Matthew (person from the email) and nothing seemed out of place. He indicated that there was a delay in the "welcome package" as well as the checks for the first assignment. All seemed legit as the checks did arrive late. I processed them on 9/19. On 9/23 I received a letter from my bank indicating that the checks had been returned for insufficient funds and I was charged a returned check fee. My account was at a negative balance. I was mortified!!!!!! I emailed Matthew and told him I needed to hear from him and how upset I was on 9/23, but to this day I have not heard back. I determined that I was totally scammed and taken advantage of. I now have to pay this money over $2k back to my bank.
