Type of a scam Employment
Here are two things you should do when you receive an email out of the blue for a job you might not remember applying for, but does fir your experience.
1. Email the company they claim to be from, identify them in your email, and explain that you would like a verification that this is not a scam. Any and all businesses should have no problem responding to this. This also will not disqualify you for any real positions. There have been two times for me that I had emailed the company and they were able to verify the legitimacy of the offer with overwhelming evidence. What's more, these companies liked that I had reached out. If it's a scam, it helps to protect their company and their name. If it isn't a scam, it shows that you have the critical thinking skills to know when you are being messed with.
2. Google the name the person is claiming to be. If they show up on this website from someone else who had reported them, stay away. Block them, do whatever you have to do to make sure they do not have access to your information. And, if you would be so kind, come to this website and list their name so they might be found by the next person seeking help. like I had when I googled my scammer's name. In this case, Melinda Lackey.
I also know that taunting these scammers can be very tempting. I highly recommend not doing that. The longer you stay in contact with them, the more you are at risk for other means to collect your information. Sever contact immediately, and do your best to block and report them.
