I believe I have been roped into the same scam. However, in my situation, the checks did go through and were accredited into my account. After I received the money, I was instructed to send money through Zelle to their "software vendors". I realized it seemed fishy when I was told to include unrelated memos attached to the transactions. For example, I was instructed to send $1000 to a person named Juan ([email protected]) and attach a memo named "Mom". That made absolutely no sense to me. I decided to do more digging into the company and landed here.
I am worried because they have sent me at least $5000 and I was instructed to retain $700 as my sign-on bonus + training compensation. I feel as though I could be seen as an accomplice because I have been paid by them.
I know the logical thing to do now is go to the bank and report this as a scam/fraud. However, what do I do about the money I kept. How do I return it so I cannot be implicated in this mess?
What do I do? Please Help.

Website has a different name and the receptionist stated that they were not a part of "Memorial Hospital Group"
They conducted virtual job interview, emailed a job offer, then sent a check for me to purchase "office equipment" to gather information about you.
My employment agency were not able to verify these individuals to be who they claimed to be, "hiring mangers, finance officer, hr assistant"
I used ZipRecruiter and they were not able to verify that information as well and advised me to cease communication with them.

as well as the HR email to contact and the Payroll team.
I was told this was a temporary work from home postion until the office opened in which then i was to report to the building for work. Long story short The check was FRAUD, I took it to THE BANK they issued it from to check for fraud and scam and the woman immediatley took the check along with all new hire paperwork I had. They extent to which these people went to do this was unreal. I am providing some screenshots hoping this helps other people from being involved or recognizing these things.
