The scammer presented "herself" as a bogus "neighbor" via facebook chat to reach out to me and other residents living in the neighborhood indicating that "she" was able to provide a discounted rate for full house duct cleaning if 4 neighbors signed up for the service. This person provided an itemized quote for $268 for a full house duct cleaning and arranged and scheduled the service appointment between the business (using Meticulous Duct Cleaning name) and me. After my bad service experience, the purported neighbor would not give me her actual name, phone number or address when I asked her, but apparently gave a bogus address to our neighborhood group FB page administrator when the fake neighbor tried to join the neighborhood FB group again. The duct cleaning worker had arrived with only a shop vacuum and a drill with a snake and brush at the end that would spin. No negative suction compressor as noted in the quote (which equiment is normally contained in a truck and is used for a professional duct cleaning) and no inspection camera equipment at all. In addition to the shoddy equipment, he said that the quote was inaccurate and that to do all the ducts would cost me $650 instead of $268, with 5% surcharge if I paid by credit card. I repeatedly questioned and complained about the increased price, and the lack of professional equipment he had, but finally agreed to have him finish because I wanted the work done, and signed the work order, thinking I could work it out with the owner over the phone. At first the worker wanted me to pay himself directly with Zelle. I refused and used a visa card to make payment to DenverAir LLC, but I complained about the upselling/bait and switch. The worker was there for less than two hours total. I received the receipt for $676 and I promptly tried to call the owner to tell him his worker overcharged me and that I would instead pay the agreed upon price quoted. The owner would not return my call, and when I e-mailed him letting him know that I would cancel my payment, and instead pay him the quoted amount, he threatened to send my bill to a collection agency, ruin my credit and place a lien on my house. This is clever scam scheme because the quote I received was not from the company itself, it was through a facebook chat from a fraudulent person claiming to be part of our neighborhood HOA. So, this so-called neighbor who scheduled the service appointment is obviously part of the scam scheme. I am submitting a dispute with the visa card company, but it's likely I will not receive my money back. This is theft pure and simple. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BAIT and SWITCH swindle scheme from a company purporting to be either Meticulous Duct Cleaning or Denver AIR LLC. They are fraudsters and thieves. I don't wish anyone else to suffer as I am. These people prey on trusting customers and seniors (I am one). I should have insisted on being able to take the time to do my research ahead of time, not after the fact. BEWARE. DO NOT USE THEM.
