When you call the number they get your phone number and ask for your email address and put you on mailing sales lists.
The company dupes you into thinking you missed a package, they get your name from public new homeowner lists. When I called the person who answered said they wanted to deliver a 'gift' of offers from local businesses, which is not true as they could easily have left this at the front door. When I said this is a scam he still brazenly asked for an email address. To get this far you've already given a phone number and been associated with your name and address in their system.
I called back and the person who answered had my name, address and phone number handy and offered to put me on the do not call list. By calling you consent to get put on calling lists, this is in fine print on the back of the tag.
