Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Got an email from Joelle Mascord about a part time job as a personal assistant. A link lead me to a Google form where I entered basic info. Following day “Michael Adams” messaged me about the job. Said he’d pay me $450 weekly with cashiers check. First task of job to buy gifts for a charity. He sent me a check to deposit and asked to buy gift cards to send to charity.

Michael Adams advertised for a part time administrative assistant via my school's email system (NCU- Northcentral University) posed as Joelle Mascord. I clicked on the link to apply for the position. The link took me to Google Docs, requesting the following information. Name, address, phone number, personal email and school email.

Michael sent me a text message asking me to respond to his email to receive information regarding job details and requirements. In that he said that i would be paid with a cashier’s check $450.00 weekly. He also stated that I would called on to make donations to 10 of his charities as well as purchase gifts using cashier’s check.
