I applied online and received a text message asking me to reach out to the hiring manager. The hiring manager sent an email and asked for me to answer a couple of questions and after my response they offered me a position which seemed weird because we never spoke on the phone.

They asked me to purchase a Macbook laptop and other training items. They said they would send me a "check"

I was emailed by a “Michael Lantz” to answer a series of interview questions. After replying, he then emailed me an email stating I was chosen to move forward with the orientation and they would be sending me a check via mail to purchase orientation supplies, including a MacBook. He just needed my name, address, and phone number for the check. I unfortunately replied to that email before looking into it further through the BBB. I did not provide any other information.

Applied for Dawn Hearn Interior Design HR Manager remote position via LinkedIn. Was contacted by fake person pretending to be Dawn Hearn through a text message (203) 291-5316 requesting that I forward my resume and experience to a fake hiring manager named Michael Lantz at [email protected]. Michael asked additional interview questions and thereafter explained orientation would be 3 days at 2 hours each but I would need to purchase:

-Apple - MacBook Pro 16" Display with Touch Bar - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 8TB SSD Intel

-Peachtree Complete Accounting Software

-Sage Simply Accounting Software

-Vendor Management

At that point, red flag. I called Michael’s fake number and the number made 3 bleeps the dropped the call. I called the fake Dawn Hearn cellular number in which no one answered and it did not transfer to voicemail. I contacted the company directly via telephone and was informed Dawn Hearn’s LinkedIn account was hacked and the job posting was fake. I went back to LinkedIn and the job posting in addition to Dawn Hearn’s LinkedIn page and both said error.
