Caller claims Microsoft License is out of date for Windows OS.

I got a phone call the person on the other end started out by saying he wanted to return my money . I asked what company he was with he said tagnet / Microsoft. He went on to say he wanted to return my money. My question was what money? knowing I had never done business with these people .No one gives away free money. I hung up

The Call uses a automated voice system that says your Microsoft software license will be removed since your IP has changed and they want you to talk to a representative by pressing #1 in order to fix your IP address. The scammer has called my mother in-law several times in a week now.

I am a cyber security expert and this scam has been around for years now. Do not ever believe anyone claiming to be from Microsoft, no software company would ever call you to ask to change your IP address.

A window popped up on the computer saying that the firewall was compromised and they could fix it. They gave a toll free number to call and acted like they were associated with Microsoft. Upon calling, they asked for remote control over the computer which I gave. The charge was $599. They did email a receipt and contact information to reach them.

I was online paying bills .. I received an alert saying that I needed to stop what I was doing and call this .. 1.877.979.6540.. They said I was looking up inappropriate things online and they were going to report me. I was not looking up anything bad .. I was paying bills. They said I needed to pay $499.00 to fix the problem.. I said I can’t afford that. They said well we will keep all your information then.

Automated computerized voice stating was Microsoft and saying my IP address had been compromised from several different countries and my Microsoft Windows License key would be deactivated in 48 hours. They wanted to connect me with a technician to change my IP address and get a new license key.

A message on my phone informed me that my Microsoft was expiring. If I did not contact Microsoft all components of my software would become inoperable. I called and the person immediately walked me through a process on my computer indicating that there were hackers trying to get into my computer and he had to shut it down. He said give him 30 to remove the hackers and fix my computer. He said it would cost $200 to restore my computer. I realized then that it was a scam. I asked him to restore my computer its original condition. He refused, saying he cannot allow me to work on the computer and on top of that

if I didn't allow him to fix it it would stop working within 48 hours. I told him I realized he was scamming me and that I wouldn't say him. He refused to return my computer to working condition. We disconnected. I googled the phone number and learned it indeed is I scam. I'm now left with having to take my computer in for repair in order to use it again.

- Centreville, VA, USA

Called saying they charged five hundred dollars to my account. I needed to log onto their website to fill out a cancelation form to cancel.

This number called my senior mom and told her that her computer was broken. It sounds like they were trying to either get information about her computer from her, or maybe even get her to install some sort of program. The name on the caller ID was John Fitts but the caller identified himself as a Microsoft employee named Max Barker (though he spoke with a heavy Indian accent).

Receiving upwards of 10-12 calls per day, from "company posing as Microsoft software upgrade service.

Have received so many calls that both my husband and I have said that even if we were interested in we would have to refuse because the number of calls received have exceeded harassment levels.

As of yesterday, the calls have increased into late evening (e.g. 10-12PM ) and now these callers do not say anything.

Interruption of internet surfing to call Microsoft due to a virus. It was a loud voice and computer was locked. The criminal said there was a trogan virus, looked it up on computer, explained my mcaffee firewall was off and showed me. I allowed access unfortunately but figured it out when they wanted 499.00 for 5 yrs of protection of computer through Microsoft. Said I have no money and he even wanted 100.00. Said send paperwork to email. I checked email with different device and he didn't. So caught him and told him to get off my computer. Has my name, email, and phone number now and possibly things on computer. I called macafee. They says I was up to date and firewall was not turned off as they cleaned browsing, cache, and sites. I was frightened because I'm not one to be scammed.

Caller states they are Micosoft tech support and have identified some computer issues that need to be addressed. They will provide call back #'s etc. Their goal seems to be to establish a working relationship with you protecting computer & other devices from bad guys. They start with a small transaction & within one year call again to up the ante. (initial $100 followup 1K) in lieu of the same program (Checkpoint Firewall 2200) from Best Buy or Wal-Mart for 5K. Most of the callers have an South Asian accent & have adopted western names. I concluded my communication with them & indicated I would be contacting BBB, FTC & my state AG,

Was contacted through my tablet that I had a virus on my tablet & had to pay them $490 to fix it. I gave them my bank account information and they deducted that money from account. 2 weeks later the same thing happened to my laptop, I called the number and explained that I had just done with this my tablet. They then told me to go to CVS pharmacy and purchase $400 in gift cards. CVS informed me that this is a scam. Here is an additional phone number used by the scammers, they stated the supervisor number 1-347-571-9047 Justin Cook.
