Got email as below:

I'm Michael Szywala from 2ND HAND IMPORTS. Your resume was seen on CalJobs APPLICATION, and we feel you would be an asset performing Online Data Entry (Work from Home position). Reply if interested

I think it is too good to be true!

- San Diego, CA, USA

I am registered with EDD and CalJobs. I recievd the following email from the scammer on 06/16/2023:

"I'm Michael Szywala from 2ND HAND IMPORTS. Your resume was seen on CalJobs APPLICATION, and we feel you would be an asset performing Online Data Entry (Work from Home position). Reply if interested for the job details. Starting pay is $30.00/hr.

Michael Szywala,

2ND HAND IMPORTS."

I realized it was a scam and found another victim and added my experience.

- Norwalk, CA, USA

I was contacted via email with CalJobs Application. I emailed back interest in the position. The position for for a data-entry. My email was used to receive the job duties and responsibilities. My main form of contact was email and until I was told to use Skype to have the interview over chat. I was asked multiple questions and for 2 professional references. With time, he asked me if I was still on in order to let me know I got the position and that he would send me more information. I was unable to find him and company during my internet searches. The name of the company he used was 2nd Hand Imports.

Michael Szywala contacted me via email the day after I posted my resume with CalJobs. I had an interview with him via Skype, he asked normal interview question and I was hired about 5 mins after the interview was done. I was then emailed an employment offer letter, w-4 & direct deposit form to fill out and return. I told him that I wasn't comfortable sending sensitive info to a Hotmail email and he said that was all he had and I could just leave me SS# off of the w-4. I ended up signing the employment offer letter (attached) and returning to him. I haven't heard from him since and I could not find anything on 2nd Hand Imports, the address on the letter is a house so I googled his name and ran across another person with the same experience. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. UGH!!!

I signed up for Caljobs and a man going by the name of Michael Szywala sent me an email. The email said he found my resume on Caljobs and feels I would be an asset to the company. He gave me a detailed job description and then asked me to download Skype to do the interview through an encrypted chat message. I found it was suspicious that I got the job on the spot and he emailed me documents to sign right away I closing a direct deposit form. There was no mention of a background check and his email was not a company one. I tried to search and there is no website for the company. I searched the address on maps and it appears to be a house. The company, 2ND HAND IMPORTS, is registered on open corporates, however that is the only information out there about that company.

I spoke with a woman from EDD today and maybe a few hours later I received an email from Michael Szywala saying the following.. “

I'm Michael Szywala from 2ND HAND IMPORTS. Your resume was seen on CalJobs APPLICATION, and we feel you would be an asset performing Online Data Entry (Work from Home position). Reply if interested for the job details. Starting pay is $30.00/hr.

Michael Szywala,

2ND HAND IMPORTS.“ after that I was obviously interested, he sent me the full job description then he sent me this.. “Your interview will be conducted live through a secure PPTP encrypted text chat. Our Head HR team would review our conversation once we through.

Now download Skype Messenger from your Phone Mobile App store and sign up for a Skype account using your Phone number or email and send an invite through this link; https://join.skype.com/invite/jFAxoJbkE1h6” which seems a little sketchy. Not sure if this is legit but I’ve had other scammers offer me a job and I just want to be safe and let others know.

I had a similar experience. I too received the same e-mail but I did not respond as I was not able to find any viable information on the name of that person or that company

- El Monte, CA, USA

I just got unemployed last month and just applied for Edd. I registered for cal job and a day later a Michael Szywala contact me though email claiming he found my resume from cal job and have a job interview by Skype. No personal info. was asked from me but, but during the interviews he ask me how i would like to be pay ( weekly or bi weekly also if i prefer check or direct deposit.) After a couple of questions of (basic interview questions) he informed me that i was the right fits and was hired. Then i received and email from him asking to file out basic info. ( Name, telephone, and emails and my signature at the end of the application). I google the company name, it did show up but the address of the company is a house. I think i am being catfish by this person. The company did not look legit to me. The name of the CEO do not match at all with the person who been interviewing me. There is no phone number or websites for the company but the company is resgester as a stock corporation.
