I also contacted these guys via email. I received a response email from someone who did not provide a name. I had inquired about Hugo. They provided 7 photos of this puppy. They provide in their email a bunch of things that seem hard to believe. They require a bunch of questions be answered. I answered these questions and got long email response. I also received text messages from phone 774 234 7129, also never giving me a name but saying they were from Mike's Basset hounds. Their telephone number on their website is based out of North Carolina. This telephone number is a Voice over IP (internet number) based out of Massachusetts.

The website was just created in 2021. I was doing this research in May of 2021. They talk about having years of experience blah blah blah. Their website lists multiple different names of possible owners. The emails and website description are very inconsistent.

In that long email response they sent me they again did not use a name for themselves or "their partner". They asked for $850 up front saying they would ship out the dog from Florida (which is where they said they were located). They wanted payment through Apple pay or Zelle.

I asked if they had a website or any other social media page (as most breeders do now days) and they said no. I asked for their names and they did not respond. I asked for photos of this puppy's parents and was sent two different photos clearly taken from the internet.

I researched the telephone number 828 537 2158 on Google and located a story of a website scam. Ironically, I located the photo of the dog "Rupy" that they have listed on Mikesbassetpuppies on this story. The link for that story is

This story is clearly the same people. I went through each of the photos listed on Mikesbassethoundpuppies website and right clicked on them to search the image on the web. I located Rupy with the above story. I did the same with Hugo and located approximately 5+ different websites posting photos of this puppy. This photo has been used several times by different webpages trying to sell basset puppies.

My last email to them was to give me a call. I never received another response from them. Clearly a scam. There is no question here folks, it really is a scam.

They want me to send 850 for a puppy to be shipped her and I can't get ahold of them only thru email. I don't trust them and they have no reviews etc and can't google them its just their site only that comes up. They said that they are from Florida and they can ship the dog for free bit have to pay the 850 thru applepay or zelle and I don't think that is to safe. When I asked them to call me and my wife after work we got no response saying they will to help us get a piece of mind that we are safe to send money.
