Type of a scam Online Purchase
On June 2, 2021, I went to a website that looked like Milwaukee Tools outlet. I ordered product and had it shipped to my business in Ohio (I live in Florida). I needed the tools for a project I was flying to Ohio to complete.
For payment, the website directed me to Paypal. I paid, using a credit card, through Paypal.
On June 6, I received a message from Paypal indicating that the order had shipped and providing a Federal Express tracking number.
I continued to monitor the tracking number to watch for delivery and on June 9, FedEx showed the package as delivered and had been signed for by PCampana. I checked with the my business and no package had been received. In addition, there is no one at the business named P. Campana.
Assuming it had inadvertently been delivered to the wrong address, I contacted FedEx and asked them about the package. There were numerous phone calls but, long story short, FedEx ultimately told me that the package on that tracking number had not been addressed to me, but to a large company in the same area. Given that it wasn't addressed to me, they couldn't discuss anything else.
I went back to PayPal and filed a claim which they denied, indicating that they had a tracking number and the package had been delivered.
I am continuing to contest this purchase through my credit card company, but read an article from ScamPulse.com describing exactly this type of scam, so I thought I would submit this information in the hopes of preventing someone else from going through this.
