Minigoldendoodlepup.org indicates eight (9-week-old) puppies are available from their most recent litter. I inquired on Micky who was listed at $1,000.00 plus travel, if applicable. The breeder states they are out of North Carolina, specifically Charlotte, NC. As I am located in WI, travel/shipping was necessary. After my initial inquiry and numerous discussions, it was agreed that $1,300.00 would cover the cost of the puppy and all travel. The breeder requested payment through Zelle which is a P2P (person-to-person) payment method and offered as an option through most major financial institutions. After payment was made, I received a Bill of Sale (not on company letterhead). I was provided shipping details as well; however, 2 hours prior to departure, an email was sent to me from Noah Ark Pet Travel requesting an additional $1,750.00 to cover the cost of "Pet insurance". The insurance was to be paid in cash and was "99.9% refundable" via cash. Up until this point, I had not noticed any red flags, but this final request was extremely abnormal, especially the cost associated with the service. After going back and forth with the breeder (minigoldendoodlepups.org) and Noah Ark Pet Travel, I requested the breeder pick the puppy back up as this was not an agreed upon cost, nor was it detailed in the Bill of Service. Needless to say, the breeder stopped all communication and was unwilling to refund the money received (contradicting their online refund policy).
