Type of a scam Employment
I was "hired" by this company called "Minntex Investments Inc." They told me to download an app called signal which is encrypted messaging software.
THey sent me an email from this URL:
There is no website there.
Also, the owner of the company is named Tanya, and I looked at her LinkedIn page before she blocked me. It listed the business address as:
677 Anne St NW suite d, Bemidji, MN 56601
I looked on Google maps and it was not there. It was between a restaurant and something called "REM." After I asked the people at Minntex, they suddenly added a marker to the Google maps page.
I also used Google streetview to view this building, and there is no sign that says anything about "Minntex Investments, Inc."
I looked up the EIN number (Employer Identification Number) and the IRS has no record of them.
I looked up "Minntex Investments Inc." and the better business bureau has no record of them.
There are no employee reviews for this company on glassdoor, or anywhere else.
Before the owner, Tanya, blocked me on LinkedIn, I noticed that "Tanya" has owned this business for fifteen years. Then why is there no record of this business with the IRS, the Better Business Bureau, or Glassdoor?
Also, on the encrypted messaging app which they had me download, "Signal," the person who was talking to me changed his name after the interview. During my interview his name was "Michael Logan," and a few hours after the interview his name changed to "Thomas Lowe."
I applied for this "Data Entry" remote job on Indeed.com. There is something fishy going on here.
