Type of a scam Employment
I was told that I would be receiving a stipend for very specific equipment that I would need for the remote position such as a computer, desk, printer, external hard drive, chair, and additional accessories. The actual money amount for the stipend was never specified. I was also to receive a virtual meeting with an HR rep to discuss questions or concerns about the job which never happened either even when I asked. The final email asked for my personal banking information which I did not feel comfortable giving out without talking to an actual person beforehand.
I finally called The MOMA and asked to speak with someone from HR to help clarify the job posting. I was then connected to a rep who told me that over the past two days, they had received many emails and phone calls in regards to a man named Victor Sanchez who was posing as an employee at the MOMA and targeting job seekers. She also told me that this person was using old job postings and responses in their emails which is why the validity of the email was so convincing. I was informed that MOMA knew about the fake account and had reported their findings to Linkedin. In addition, the informal job offer letter was signed by Margaret Benson whose title was supposed "Deputy Director of the Human Resource Department". Upon further research, I could not find a public Linkedin Profile for either Margaret Benson or Victor Sanchez which was also disconcerting.
I had no money or personal information stolen from me but I was robbed of my job seeking security.
