Type of a scam Moving
On moving day, 3 movers showed up with a new quote of 120/hr. When I reached out to whomever I was in contact with during the hiring process, they assured me that the extra mover was to make the move faster. They asked for a deposit of $300, which I gave. The movers began loading my items onto the truck and once finished, I received a new quote of $1295. I was blindsided the moment these men came to my house! They would not leave until I paid in full. I told them I didn’t feel comfortable paying until the job was done and they just told me that’s their policy. Anyways, I went to the bank (they didn’t take email transfer), which they followed me to and once I gave them the money, I literally watched them laughing in the truck. These men were pretty much laughing in my face. I’ve never felt so powerless.
They were suppose to make another stop to pick up another item of mine before the final destination, which they didn’t. I called over 15 times and no one answered. I got my friend to call them, they answered and he asked where my belongings are. He was told that they had already made the delivery. How could they have made the delivery if 1) they didn’t have the keys to enter the unit 2) they didn’t do the assigned pickup.
To my surprise, I drive to my new apartment and see this. Not only did these men walk away with $1595 but they left my belongings on the grass.
It was my first time moving out on my own and it was the most horrific experience!
