Moving Quote Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

This American Movers Direct LLC. is a SCAM initially quoting a low amount $3,000, then when they planned to come to the house they said I owed them $8,000 that day. They lied and said they were the movers, but were really the broker. They quoted me $3000 initially but raised it to $4,000 the day before they were supposed to come. I paid the initial $1000 more as they threatened to not show up the next day. They did not show up 3 times as scheduled, which was a breach of the contract. When they were about to show up on the weekend, (on a Sunday) they said I owed them $8,000 before they could come. They stated I could only pay with a cashier’s check, money order, cash app, etc., This did not give me time or even access to obtain the method of payment. So they did not show up to move my goods. Furthermore, when the mover was on his way to my house he said he was 3 hours away from my home. I recognized that was a lie because I live in Hawaii. Hawaii is not 3 hours long from north to south, unless there was heavy traffic during rush or during the week, not the weekend. When I confronted him about that he hung up the telephone and never showed up at my house. The mover did try to come once I secured a new mover with the PODS moving company. They said I made of contract tith them

The mover tried to scam me for the $8000 that day by threatening to cancel if I didn’t have the money. They new my belongings had to be out that Monday, hoping I would be desperate and pay the $8,000. No one would provide the name of the mover, as they stated I can only know of them when they arrived.

Because I didn’t have the $8000 the broker told me that my $4000 was non refundable. I was not aware that they were the brokers until they told me to send them an email to cancel the move. I only canceled because they did not fulfill the contract by missing 3 scheduled appointments and they were lying about being on the island. Nevertheless, they tried say I was in breach of the contract once I sent the email to cancel.

American Mover Direct did not move any of my stuff, but took $4,000. I had the new company $8,000 for the total move. As such, I ending up paying $12,000 any way. They made pay with my bank via routing number and checking account so I have no recourse, like I would have had with a credit card.

I would like to get all my money back as my stuff is still in storage in Hawaii waiting to be shipped to Delaware. I am struggling with getting the $8000 to pay PODS for the shipment.

I looked the reviews up for this company and they have done this to thousands of people. They need to be stopped, I've seen a company with this many bad reviews and they are still in business.
