I have witnessed this scam over and over again. I am a caterer, amd receive a text message from a person with noticably bad english, who says they want to book me for a party, usually a family reunion, usually a two-day event. They are hesitant to give a date for the event, and they want to send a courier as a bait and switch for the deposit. I have never fallen prey to them but it's always the same m.o. and easy to spot. And as soon as I tell them, this is a scam and I am going to report you, I don't hear anything back.
