I went through with the interview the morning of March 22, 2017. It seemed like a regular interview, albeit over text (Google Hangout) and not video chat or over the phone. Again, this seemed strange to me, but everything seemed to be in order and there weren't too many red flags. Glassdoor.com said the company was legit, people gave it decent reviews, etc.
After telling me I was hired (without even meeting me) "***" asked me to send him an email with my name as the subject and my name, address, phone number, and email address in the message. I sent it, as it seemed odd but not too shady. He used the email address ***@mslgroupusa.com to contact me, which also seemed legit. He then sent me a link to a W-4 form on the IRS website and asked me to fill out a W-4. Since this was straight off the IRS website and not through the company, I did not feel comfortable providing my Social Security Number and did not. I filled out the rest of the form, however.
So whoever is behind this has my name, phone number, address, email address, and thanks to the W-4, knows that I live alone.
Anyway, since something seemed off, after my "interview" I called a lady by the name of *** ***, whose name and phone number is listed on the MSL Group *** website. I wanted to confirm that I had really spoken to *** ***, as I had had a faceless and voiceless interview. I later got a voice mail (I missed the call) from a *** *** ***, who works for MSL Group ***. *** *** explained that they've had problems with scammers stealing their employee's identities to offer jobs that don't exist to people like me. He said they were working with authorities. I have reached back out to *** *** but have yet to hear back.
