I am writing to you today to report a suspected scam by a company called Music for Television. This company claimed to be a music licensing company that shopped musicians' music to television and film. I was charged $20 per month for their services, and I submitted over 400 songs to them over a period of 1.5 years.
I did receive a few questionable placements with BET and VH1, but I recently started uploading some of my older tracks to social media sites and noticed that I was getting copyright claims on my original music. After researching, I discovered that a new company called Ritual Music was making these claims. I have all of these songs registered with BMI, and I am the original copyright holder.
I believe that Ritual Music is collecting royalties off of the 400 songs that I gave to Music for Television. I believe that this is a new scam by Music for Television, and I am concerned that they are also working with another questionable company called HAAWK.
I am unable to release my own original music because of these copyright claims. I am requesting your assistance in investigating this matter and taking action against Music for Television and Ritual Music. I believe that they are engaging in fraudulent and deceptive business practices, and I am concerned that they are harming other musicians as well.
