Type of a scam Online Purchase
The company requested we transfer the money via Zelle. $750 for a maltipoo from NC with free shipping. I replied that I was not going to use Zelle because there are no buyer protections with this method. I mentioned PayPal or a credit card. Their website states they accept Visa or Mastercard.
After a few more rounds of emails, they sent me a "secure" processing page, with logos of all the major credit cards on it. They requested in the email that I use a debit card, and they don't process credit cards. I own a business. I understand how payment gateways work. I also know that it is sometimes harder to process a chargeback on a debit card than it is on a credit card.
At this point, red flags started popping up. I began researching the website more, and while I couldn't find proof of them using stock photos, I did notice in the testimonials that a few of the testimonials mentioned the same name of puppy. Also, 3 of the 4 testimonials used names of puppies that were listed as currently available. Also, one testimonial mentions Pike Maltipoo Puppies.
I then asked the seller to have a quick video chat with me so we could see the puppy we were going to buy. They got defensive and accused me of wasting their time.
I'm just glad I did some due diligence before blindy wiring $750 to them through Zelle.
