Type of a scam Moving
However, as the move date was confirmed and approaching, communications with the organization virtually disappeared. A few days before the contractually agreed-to move date (which was supposed to be today), I contacted Tommy as I had received no confirmation of what time the movers were to arrive. That, in and of itself, seemed very unprofessional, and when I called Tommy, he seemed very distracted, but I couldn’t attribute that to anything. However looking at it in retrospect now that was probably his last day in a now-defunct company.
In any event, Tommy told me Customer Service would be contacting me shortly to confirm their arrival time today. The fact that I had not heard anything up until this point was concerning enough. But then, later that afternoon, I received two missed phone calls, one minute apart, from the moving company, presumably Customer Service. I was unavailable at the time and I assumed they would leave a message to confirm. However, they left no message, and repeated attempts over multiple days to reach the customer service organization resulted in only a voicemail saying their voice-mailbox was full. I also tried to contact Tommy again and, while his voicemail is still active as of today, I have received no return phone calls.
Needless to say, the movers did not show up today. And continued attempts to reach anyone at the company, in any department, have gone unanswered. My speculation is that, due to either the pandemic or financial incompetence, the company has largely gone out of business and they are attempting to keep that quiet and act as if everything is “business as usual“ in an attempt to preserve dwindling cash flow and keep creditors at bay. I can only assume they are no longer an active enterprise and are merely scamming people for as long as possible before disappearing.
Reading recent reviews would confirm that I am not alone in having serious problems with this company. I am now left with hundreds of other moving details and dependencies hanging in the balance, and I’m out my $3000-plus deposit which I will now try to recover through other means.
To recap, DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS OR ANY AFFILIATE! They are NOT legitimate and the people operating it are unscrupulous, amoral scammers. If the decline of their business was due to the challenges of the pandemic, I am indeed sympathetic. However they should have the moral decency and character to at least gracefully close out operations, inform their existing customer base, and refund financial commitments to the degree their financials allow. It’s just very unfortunate that some people aren’t willing to do the right thing.
