Type of a scam Tech Support
They sounded foreign and told me my computer was in bad shape and had a worm, that I needed to let them work on it. And if I did they would also give me support and malware for 2 years for $197 I believe. They needed me to pay for the work they were going to do that night. I agreed and they remotely worked on it for 3 hours!
The next day I talked to my techy friend and he said he thought I was scammed. We checked the number online and the number had lots of negative comments for the service. I called my credit card to cancel but they said I would have to wait till it was posted then I could dispute it, and that I had to request my money back from mytechbay. first. If they didn't give it back I was to call the credit card company again. Well, I called the company and told them firmly I wanted my money back. She finally agreed to but wanted me to pay for the support I got that night. I said no, she finally agreed. She said my money would be refunded in 5-10 business days. It was not, so I called again. The woman said it will be there the next monday. It was not. I called again and they said they would call me back but never did. Tried that another time without luck. I called my credit card company and they said as it was 100 miles away from me they could not let me dispute it. I don't know what to do. I have lost $297 which doesn't seem like a lot but I just retired and that is to me. Please let me know if you can help or what I should do. I do not want anyone else to have this problem. I feel pretty stupid!
