An advertisement appeared on Facebook stating that a there was a "going out of business" sale for musical instruments, in this case, specifically electronic drums. After clicking on the Facebook ad, I am taken to a website that shows all types of instruments (keyboards, saxophones, drums, etc at very very low prices). In most cases the prices were only 25% of what the retail value is. Normally I would not buy from them because the entire website appeared to be a scam, but they offered Paypal as a payment method. Since Paypal offers purchase protection, I decided to go ahead and order an Alesis electronic drum kit, knowing that Paypal would refund me if this seller did not ship me the merchandise. The next day after my order was placed, the seller adds a FAKE USPS tracking number to my Paypal purchase. As a rule, USPS tracking numbers only show the city that the package was delivered to, not the exact address, meaning that it is not a real proof of delivery. In this case, the tracking number provided shows that the package was delivered to my city, but I know it was fake because the shipment originated from Amazon (which is not the seller). I disputed the transaction with Paypal, describing the fake tracking number, and the next day Paypal denies my claim, stating that the seller had provided a valid tracking number (not true!). Essentially I was scammed by BOTH the musical instrument seller AND Paypal. Paypal should not offer "Payment Protection" as a service on their website if they do not intend to do anything when a buyer is scammed. There is no evidence that Paypal even investigated my claim at all. This provides a loophole for scammers and goes against Paypal's contract with its customers. I would like ScamPulse.com to bring this issue up with Paypal please.
