“Good morning! My name is Lauren from Nanovision Biosciences. I'm reaching out to you in regards to your job application for the position of a remote data entry clerk. We are pleased to invite you to interview for this position. The rate of pay for this role will be $27 per hour. If you are interested in this position, please send your resume to my email address [email protected] . I look forward to hearing from you soon.”
Thinking it was a legit opportunity due to me applying to several positions recently, I sent over my resume to the email listed above. She then responding stating how she was impressed with my experience, and sent over the job details, which included pay, PTO, benefits & discussed the 2 week training period. After expressing my interest, she sent over 2 links. One link was a “test link”, which asked a series of general data entry related questions, and the second link was an “employee form”, which asked typical job interview questions. However, 1 question during this form that raised a red flag was “what bank do you use?” It didn’t ask for bank account info, just the name of the bank, which I thought was odd and unusual.
I didn’t proceed with this scam likely process for the obvious reasons. However, an job offer was sent over to me via email the following day, stating they needed to “urgently fill the position”. I ignored this email, and blocked the sender (Lauren Stephens).
For additional info, I noticed that the address they had listed on the fake offer letter was a business space available for rent on several renting websites, and is currently unoccupied. There’s a LinkedIn account for this business, and Lauren Stephens follows the page, however, she doesn’t have a picture uploaded of herself, and I wasn’t able to access her LinkedIn profile. Luckily I caught the red flags, and didn’t provide any personal info (aside from my email), and I’d like to warn others.

I didn't remember applying to any company like this or for this sort of position, and my phone number isn't listed on any of the job post sites I use. When I sent my resume, within an hour I received a followup email that said "Thank you for sending over your resume. I have received and reviewed it, and I'm impressed with your qualifications. Please find more details about Nanovision Biosciences and the position below and let me know if it's something up your alley." After this the email listed fairly vague details about the job and an extensive list of benefits offered. It did not ask for any more information from me or ask me to fill out any forms, but it ended with a request that I get back to them.
