This man posted on offerup a PS5 for sale in the amount of $600.00.
I reached out to him expressing interest in the purchase. He stated he was in Michigan stationed in an Army base. After much conversation I decided to purchase the PS5 and he stated that he takes payment via zelle. The zelle number given was not the number I called him on. He stated that the zelle account belonged to his father. I requested to see a picture of the item which he sent me an actual video showing the box of the PS5 and he spoke throughout the video calling my name and stating the current date. He also said that this was a great price and how much I would be enjoying it.
I hesitated but he assured me this was legitimate and that he was going to send me copies of the fedex mailing receipts. He sent me a copy of the fedex shipping receipt which showed my mailing address and that he purchased insurance for $600.00. The tracking number on this receipt was crossed out so you couldn’t see the actual number.
Another photo was sent showing the PS5 in another shipping box. The following photo showed what looks like the same box but this time there’s a picture of a gentleman behind a glass partition and next to him was the box on a scale as if it was in the fedex shipping facility.
After the money was sent via zelle I called to ask what the expected date of delivery was since I did not see it on the shipping receipt.
At this point the calls go unanswered and the text messages also go unanswered.
I called my bank regarding the money sent on zelle and they basically said there is nothing they can do since I chose to use zelle and zelle does not offer fraud protection.
It’s disgusting that someone claims to be in the military and scams people offering items on a selling app.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOSER WHO MAKES A LIVING SCAMMING! KARMA WILL GET YOU…

I was brand new on the Letgo app and reached out to a seller that was claimed to be verified by the app. So I trusted that it was legitimate. I wanted to purchase a MacBook Pro for school and he said the price was negotiable. So I talked him into $300 he convinced me the reason that he was letting it go so cheap was because he wanted a gaming laptop and didn’t need the MacBook anymore. He just needed $200-$300 more to buy it. He told me to text him and on Letgo it said he was located in Bedford TX but when I text him he said he moved to Michigan to be in the National Guard. I called him, he seemed trustworthy and suggested I send him half as he shipped the package from FedEx, he sent me the tracking code and shipping label so I trusted and he told me to use Zelle. I was familiar with Zelle, but not the fact that they don’t have fraud protection. So after I sent the $150 we talked a little more and then I asked if he could expedite it for next day, he said send $20 more and he’ll turn around and change it to overnight. Once I sent the other $20, I asked if he changed it and then I was blocked on Letgo, and by phone. There was another number he asked me to send the money to whom he claimed was his father, and so I tried calling that number and they hung up and texted me then that it may not have gone through and I would have to try again. I called my bank to report it and they said they would mail me a letter about my claim. So needless to say, I don’t have a MacBook, I’m out $170 while I’m going to school and there is nothing anyone can do.
