This company is a servicer for your student loans. They find the program that works best for you to lower your monthly payments. They charge a $900 fee up front once you agree to use them as your servicer. They take all of your information and tell you how much your payment will be reduced before you pay the fee. They also will charge a $30/month service fee if you decide to utilize their services upon renewal of your income based repayment plans to the federal loan company. I opted not to use their services. My payment went from $400/mo to $125 per month. Today, I received a letter in the mail from my student loan company, Fed Loan. They stated that I need to recertify my income and dependents to continue with paying $125/month for my loans. I gave them a call and they stated that I need to provide proof of my income and my 11 dependents that I provide for! 11 dependents!!!!

Apparently, National Student Loans informed the loan company that I have 11 dependents that I care for, in order to make my payments low. I told the representative at FedLoan that I do not have 11 dependents and I never did. She said that my loan payment would now go up to $500/month because of that. She also stated that National Student Loans often does this to make a lower payment for their clients.

Who will be responsible for this when the loans get audited by the government?
