James from OfferUp asked me to send him NHV papers. I sent him a link to view my papers for free, but he still wanted to use that "nationwidevinhistory.com" link. If I hadn't noticed this thread during my initial search for the site, I'm not sure I would have been so insistent on using a free provider.

I was contacted by Robert, 602 704 0188 wanting to buy my truck. He wanted me to pay $25 to nationwidevinhistory.com for a report, but I printed the report from checkthatvin.com (an ftc.gov approved site) for $3.50. He said he prefers the report on nationwidevinhistory. He knows what to look for. I gave him the ftc.gov site and told him I would print a report from his choice of those website. A whois search of nationwidevinhistory shows that the website was registered in Phoenix in 2019. It's not been up long enough for me to consider it reputable.

Kevin tried to do the same thing to me. Used the same exact text messages as the other folks posted above with the same 360-205-5629 phone number... I knew it seemed sketchy but was trying to be positive that maybe he was new to car buying or not from here. Nope, just a scammer trying to dupe people.

Directed me to provide him with "NTR papers" from nationwidevinhistory.com. Seemed fishy so I asked him to PayPal me the fees. I got some line about how he only has cash and sent me a pic of a wad of bills. He ghosted after I wouldn't budge.

Kevin contacted me today and was planning to meet me at my bank tomorrow. I will NEVER. Lick on any links anyone provides so I sent him a VIN report provided by the US govt - I took a screen shot of other people’s report of “Kevin”. And sent him a messages telling him he makes me ill and he has been reported. This is the phone number he was using... 306-205- 5629

Website got my paypal information and ss number. We were selling a car and scammer asked for us to get a vehicle history report from a specific site that directed us to our paypal for payment and therefore I thought it was legit. It asked for a ss number after generating the report. Weirdest thing is that it generated an accurate report for me to send the person.
