An elderly friend of mine was contacted by a man saying she had won second place in a sweepstakes. He said she wouldn't have to pay anything but when we contacted the same group to see what needed to be done to collect the amount of the prize, we were told that an amount of $2,500.00 would have to be paid to register the prize to receive the check. Our local sheriff and a lawyer were contacted on February 18, 2016.
