I was approached via email for a remote administrative assistant position for an accounting company. The offer looked {in hindsight} surprisingly credible - not only was there a legitimate-looking website, but the business itself was registered in 2013, and the process involved sending a detailed employment contract and pretty much all other paperwork involved with previous jobs I've applied to. In fact, everything was good until the first day of my "training".

My first training task? Go to an ATM and purchase and transfer Bitcoin.

Each and every attempt to get clarification or any sort of explanation was rerouted back to "this is the first and easiest training task for you to do" - from what I can tell, that was the extent of the scam, and "Sandy" wasn't really prepared to have any fallbacks. Eventually, they just stopped responding.
