Original call person called stated they were from NCS. Verified my name and quoted the last 4-digits of my Social Security number. First indicated that I had money owing me and then changed it to "Collection Account", named a Bank I have never had an account with, in a town that I had moved from 13 years ago. Also stated that I would be receiving a Certified Letter and I had 24-hours to respond to the letter. This was 3 weeks ago.
Today I received another call, which I sent directly to Voice Mail. The message stated that NCS has now sent me several letters via Certified Mail and they have all been returned, and that I need to call them immediately. That is not going to happen. I have checked my credit reports and there are no pending lawsuits or outstanding debits from any banks.

I came here looking to verify my suspicions that this may have been a scam. I am not certain still but will head to the bank in the morning to discuss stopping payment if possible b/c i'm very uncertain about all this. I received a phone call from someone claiming to be a "courier" and that he had tried to deliver a summons for me b/c a company was seeking judgement over an unresolved debt. When I asked what company, I was given a name and 888 number. When I called the 888 number (feeling uneasy) I was told details of an over-drafted acct which I feel like I did already pay, years ago, but don't remember for sure. Then I was told I could either wait for the summons to arrive and then have judge determine what if any amount I would be required to pay and possibly have a lien or wage garnishment for the funds to be settled or I could submit an offer to settle the account and if accepted be settled and no longer responsible for the debt. I went ahead (against better judgement) and offered to pay the original overdraft amount with my debit card and now i'm very uneasy about it all. I did request paper work to verify what I was paying and was sent a docusign- e-document for the amount I offered to pay.. with an account number. I have a docket number as well but haven't been able to find it in any court searches so far.
