I just received a random text saying that Netflix was offering a year free due to the pandemic, but why so late in the pandemic? So I looked it up and yep, rotten thieves were behind it.

I received a text message from a phone number stating that due to COVID-19 a free 1-year subscription is offered this year in order to help people stay and home and be safe. As I went to the website I fell for it. I gave them my personal information although before I’ve entered my payment information, I’ve gotten a gut feeling to do some researching about it. And surely, it turns out to be a scam. I didn’t lose any money, but I think my personal identity information might be under danger now.

I received a text from them saying I will get 3 free months with a code for net flix due to the virus going around. They needed credit card info for age verification. They charged me $1 so far and Netflix has no account under me even though I set up an account supposedly.

Emailed me to say I had purchased a product from Netflix via PayPal. The item was said to have cost $*** Canadian. The "invoice" itself was in the amount of $***

Neither claim was legitimate.

This was the phish purporting to come from PayPal - the first I marked as spam and deleted.
