Network Technologies Reports & Reviews (1)

I consider myself a relatively intelligent person but I was scammed $1,299 dollars by Network Technologies and I don't want this to happen to anyone else. A year or so ago, I kept receiving messages from Microsoft stating that my computer was hacked and I needed to contact Network Technologies to correct the problem. So, I did and they appeared to be very helpful and fixed my computer and installed software. The cost for 2-year protection was $299. So, I paid the $299 and went on my merry way. On August 3rd, I was contacted by Ronald Wright of Network Technologies stating that they were notified that there had been attempts to hack my computer and they needed to install anti-hacking security. I needed to purchase $500 in Google Play cards / Steam cards but I would be reimbursed because it was their issue. I questioned why and they said that it was a more secure method then providing my credit card, and, the license needed to be purchased in my name. So stupidly, I went to Target and bought $500 in Google play cards. The next morning, true to his word, "Ronald" called at 9:00 a.m. and asked for the card security numbers. He called back 40 minutes later and said that their system rejected the numbers (or some story like that) and I needed to get another $500 in Google play cards. I argued with him for what seemed a very long time and he said that he would send the money to reimburse me for not only the initial $500 but also for the $299 I initially paid and for the $500 I was about to spend. I said that I needed the refund before I spent any more money. So, he pdf'd a copy of the check they were going to send on Monday but someone had to be home to sign for it. I questioned the validity of the check because it was in the name of an individual rather than the company but they said he was a finance manager. So stupidly, I purchased another card for $500 and called him back with the security code. It wasn't until he called back again to say something happened with that $500 did I realize this was a scam. They were very persistent and kept calling me. I called the police and while I was reporting them, they called back again. The officer said to put them on speaker to listen to the conversation. "Ronald" asked why I was ignoring his calls and I told him that I thought this entire scheme was a scam and I was with the police. The officer came on and asked a few questions but Ronald hung up. Believe it or not but I got several calls even after the police officer spoke to him. I finally blocked the number. My main concern is that "Ronald" remote accessed in to my laptop and appeared to have installed several applications. Additionally, the check that he sent me was removed from my PC. So, I know need to have someone reputable check my laptop.
