A call came to me at work. A woman stated, "You don't know me but I am a SINGLE MOTHER and a FRIEND said if I called you that you would help me". She continued, " My car has been towed to a repair shop and I need help. I have nobody to help me". She indicated she was "stranded". She sounded so insistent, desperate, and SINCERE. I fell for it, and got hit hard financially. Another call came in about the same time -it was a woman who asked for money because she had cancer. When I traced everything back, I found that the scammers originated from two local sources located within a few minutes of each other: a Temp Firm in Houston, Texas and a Department Store Clerk in Houston, Texas. Both women had access to my work phone information through the Temp Firm and Department Store Records. These women were working with organized scammers.
