NeuroRx Reports & Reviews (1)

- Philadelphia, PA, USA

I submitted my resume on LinkedIn to a position NeuroRx had posted. The recruiter (also CEO) replied informing me that someone from the company would contact me about the opportunity. My resume had my contact information including cell phone and email. I received a call on June 24, 2020 from a person by the name of Robert stating they were Head of Operations, and I agreed to discuss the position by zoom interview. They seemed legitimate from their website in addition to how they discussed the company, the role they were looking to fill, etc. They expressed an urgency to fill the role. Robert later copied me in an email with someone else who worked for the company and who was introduced as the direct manager for the role. This person requested a zoom meeting before speaking over the phone and reviewing my resume, I declined it; however, I accepted an initial contact by a phone call where they proceeded to discuss the company in more detail. They explained the workplace was "chaotic". I asked more questions about the workplace culture and if they had onboarding procedures to facilitate training once someone is hired, in which they denied having any. They advertised the position as something that I could create around being assigned to managing their clinical operations. I provided my first reference as I waited to hear back from the other reference. Robert checked in with the one reference before calling me again on June 29, 2020 requesting my home address for payroll purposes and for their legal officer to write up an offer letter. Robert instructed me to email back the legal officer and to specifically request they add my address to my "personnel profile". I was surprised they decided so quickly. I emailed them my home address and also asked what more was needed for their application process. They said all they needed was the address. I then followed up with my second reference. I asked that they do a background check, and Robert explicitly stated they were comfortable relying on my previous employer's background check and didn't require one for their position. They also asked me about the status of my health insurance and what type of household I lived in. I received an offer letter by email on June 30, 2020. The offer letter had many points I did not agree with such as cash compensation, not having a detailed job description and me being responsible for home office security. I did not sign the offer letter. I replied back in email the next day requesting that they provide I9 and W4 forms for me to complete as a new potential hire, I denied their method of cash compensation, and also asked more detailed questions about what was required for me to secure a home office in compliance with their company standards. Robert responded to my email the same day - July 1, 2020, and explained that they needed to rescind my offer letter due to an emergency need to fill the position out of state. Naturally, I became very suspicious after receiving their email. I asked that they verify what information they collected about me and what was added to my "personnel profile" on file with their company, as this was the first time I started to think they might be scamming me. They responded by stating they don't keep records besides the information I provided. This leads me to believe there might be additional information associated with my profile that I did not authorize or provide. I did email them stating that the only information I provided was my contact information, resume, and references. I am requesting that they provide me with all the information they used to create my profile so that I can verify its authenticity. I am also asking that they confirm if they collected any a background check record from a former employer. I also recently filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office against a former employer for a case of retaliation. I am unsure if these events are related.
