My son found a German Shepherd puppy on a website. He indicated that he was interested in the puppy and received a text on Sunday inquiring about if we were familiar with the breed and whether we had a veterinarian we used. After he assured them he could care for the pup, they asked him to pay by Venmo, but since we were in Canada on vacation at the time, Venmo wouldn’t process the payment. Via text my son informed them that we would have to wait until we returned to the US to complete the purchase. They offered to enter his card info a payment system to expedite the purchase, because the contact said that they were going out of town on Tuesday and wanted to finalize the purchase, but his debit card declined the purchase. We thought maybe there was a spending cap, so I allowed him to use my credit card. We were told we would receive tracking information for delivery to our home, which we didn’t receive. When we had not received the transport information and the Thursday delivery date rolled around, my son started texting to check the transport status. He was told to just be patient, so he started getting concerned and started doing research to see if this was a scam. Towards the end of the day, he became more impatient and texted the seller again. Again he was blown off. When I arrived home late afternoon/early evening, he expressed his concern to me and I filed a dispute with my credit card company. My son locked his debit card to be safe. His bank contacted him when 2 charges where attempted out of Ireland. They flagged the transactions and cancelled his bank card.
