I was looking for a place to rent and ended up choosing what I thought was a ok place. I spoke to Crystal dejesus at Nexus Apartments who is the manager there. She told me she can get me to move in as early as July but it is now August. She pressured me to put a holding deposit down saying the apartment complex is very popular and that I would have to put a holding to secure my spot. After I put the down deposit I pretty much got ghosted since then. I tried to communicate to them via call, email and voice mail but I never heard back. I put the down deposit at 5/29/2024 and it is now 8/14/2024. With no communication on next steps in the last 2.5 months I assume I was lured into a scam. I signed papers saying the holding deposit is non-refundable and thats ok. Im writing this report in hopes others dont get scammed like I did. Also after looking more on review sites like google and yelp , I see other people who has paid fees and never even got to signing the lease.
