NHS Job Offer Scam
This is a copy of the initial text:
"Good day Shannon Sturgill , I am Robinson Walker, Head of the Hiring Recruiters Dept. at National Health Service Company and your resume was successfully reviewed and the company is offering you the chance to work for us for the position of Customer Service and the pay is $35.00 per hour. If you are interested kindly confirm by replying YES I AM or simply YES. Thank You!"
I was immediately suspicious but figured I'd see where it went. "Mr. Wilson" directed me to contact him via the Signal app so he could interview me. The Signal number he provided was +1 (516) 748-7878.
This is Copy of the "Job Requirements" he provided:

This is a copy of the "duties and responsibility" he provided:
"DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY: Track's data and source documents. Prepares and sorts source documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered. Compiles, sorts and verifies data for accuracy. Contacts responsible parties or clients from other organizations to resolve moderately complex questions, inconsistencies, or missing data. Also perform Records keeping, keyboarding/data entry and performing a variety of other office tasks account balancing, invoicing recording, proper data analysis of sales records and recording pay slips into accounting database all these will be done through the use of the accounting Software, such as faxing or emailing confidently and positive attitude online from home.
Can you handle these duties if trained towards it ?"
This is what he sent as his "interview" for the position:
"Briefly describe your work experience, especially the administrative and
customer service aspects?
Describe your computer experience including applications used (MS Word,
Excel, etc.), computer environments (Windows, Macintosh, etc.), word processing,
database and spreadsheet skills?"
I was suspicious from the start but what really confirmed this is a scam is when he sent me instructions for purchasing my equipment and software. This is a copy of his text:
"The funds for the software/working materials will be provided to you by the company via check, make sure you use them as instructed for the software and I will refer you to the vendor you are to purchase them from. Understood?"
Reputable and legit companies WILL NEVER ask you to do this and is absolutely a sign it's a scam.

I completed the interview yesterday and was informed that I was to have a follow up today at 8:00am to go over my interview results. I received via email from Dr. Susan Philips a job offer. We then got back on Skype and email and we were going over the letter. I signed the letter and emailed it back to her. Then I was asked for some banking information so they can email me a check so I can mobile deposit it and then go buy all the equipment I would need for the job of a Call Representative.
I have looked at your website regarding a job offer and the one I received is similar but does not have the links to add or edit .
The check I received was emailed to me from Brenda Gate and the name on the check is Merritt &Yoder.

As soon as the check has been issued out to you i will notify you and provide you with the tracking number so you can keep track and know when it will get to you and Note: The check will be coming to you Via FedEx .. Once you receive the check you are needed to have it deposited to your bank account ,Then the funds will be will be credited and available in your account for cash out the next day morning....You are to purchase this software's from the shipping agent who we have been buying from for years now.
All the software listed above costs much and you will not be paying for them. The funds will be used to purchase them and other equipment needed to complete the setup of your mini office. The sales agent have been working with our company for quite some time so they know what equipment to send you. Do you understand me ?
The funds are coming through you for you to get your legal signup bonus and also for you to make the payment directly to the vendor because all receipts and tellers are always kept in records for payroll analysis in the accounting department for all workers.Having your direct contact details will also enable the vendor be able to assist you with support when necessary and it will be easier to get supplies in the future or upgrades when necessary.

I proceeded to Telegram saying to add the interview manager Dr. Blessing Anderson using 334-490-9502.
They proceeded to tell me about the company and wanted to know more about me. They told me the job requirements and a brief history about the company. During this interview, I asked if this was a scam and the reply "This is not a scam, it is real and legit you can be rest assured." They asked me about my job history, interview questions, 2 references, my achievements, if i had a printer, scanner, fax, if I knew what petty cash was, I'd get paid $35 an hour but $15 for training, and would I like the money direct deposit or wired. They also asked when could I start and to text back on this date at 8am. This is crazy!

He gave me a phone from New York: (347) 460-0498
He also mentioned a lot of software and I think this is how the scam works: they make you purchase all that software to the providers they instruct you too. Not sure if it’s a sophisticated form of money laundering or they try to still your money with your bank info.
So sad there are free people out there with such malicious minds. Hope they go to jail soon.

After only a few questions, she left the chat and said she would speak with the supervisor who was to review our conversation and make the decision. Minutes later she returned to in-fact offer me the job. I asked her if I would be speaking to someone on the phone or meeting with someone via zoom, which she said I would only meet my direct supervisor once I started training.
After the chat I received my "welcome email" -- I questioned it's legitimacy when I saw that the sender did not have proper headline attached to his name, and the email came from [email protected]. No representative from a legitimate well known company especially one related to a Health Organization would have sent any documents via personal gmail. In the email the documents included Direct deposit, W-4, US Department of Labor supplemental information form, US department of Labor (which was a made up form if you go to the us.government site there is no such form and the numbers at the bottom are off), as well as, "LETTER OF OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT" written just like that (grammar) It had the company heading (very easy to copy & paste)
However it did not have a formal signature with logo's, telephone number or address. All corporate emails come with a signature that usually has the company heading with address and phone number and mentions .
I didn't share any personal information except detail of my last job position but she did have my phone number which I believe she may have acquired through indeed or zip recruiter selling my information.
I proceeded to their UK website and wrote an email to file a complaint and advise them someone is falsely representing their company. I directly came here to report, and see if there were any other similar experiences. To which I found a gentleman shared almost the exact experience except it was working for a doctor with NHS. I'm grateful my pessimism worked to my benefit because I further investigated to find this was a SCAM & a good one for the naive.
