I saw an add for a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom house for rent for $750. I contacted the landlord, "Nicholas Nance", via his email listed on the add. He gave me a story about how he is a deaf man that got re-located to Texas for a job and needed to rent this house. I conversed with him for a week regarding details about the rental. He sent me a lease agreement via e-mail and I signed it and sent it back. He accepted a $700 security deposit through Venmo. He then tried to get the first month's rent from me through Cash App and Bitcoin. I became wary of this and asked for my security deposit back. He has yet to respond. I called the realtor this house is listed under on Zillow. He informed me that this was a scam and multiple people have been taken advantage of.
